Yangtze shipping left high and dry

The Year of the Dragon begins now, represented in the Chinese zodiac by the Water Dragon. There is some irony in that, because the worst drought in 50 years has forced Chinese maritime authorities to close the Yangtze River above the port of Wuhan, more than 600 miles upriver from Shanghai.

COSL newbuild AHTS sinks at shipyard

Water has leaked into the hold of an offshore oil vessel which is currently under construction at a major Chinese shipyard. The leak has led to the ship being grounded, according to an announcement made by the owner, China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL) on Tuesday.
