Norway-based global maritime industry group Wilh. Wilhelmsen Holding ASA  announced that Berge Mafadi, a Berge Bulk vessel has received the world’s first commercial delivery of 3d printed scupper plugs, as part of Wilhelmsen’s Early Adopter Program.According to a press release, the program, where customers have exclusive access to on-demand additive manufacturing was launched by Wilhelmsen’s Marine Products division in December 2019. Wilhelmsen Launches 3D Printed Spares EAP

Wilhelmsen has launched an early adopter program for 3D printed marine spare parts. A strategic move by the six early adopters, Carnival Maritime, Thome Ship Management, OSM Maritime Group, Berge Bulk, Executive Ship Management and Wilhelmsen Ship Management have all signed up with Wilhelmsen’s Marine Products division to begin utilizing on-demand additive manufacturing.Wilhelmsen, in cooperation with Ivaldi Group, will provide spare parts on demand to the selected six customers’ vessels around the globe.

Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) are bringing the maritime digital solutions of the future to life at Nor-Shipping. Unveiling their augmented reality (AR) project at the world’s biggest maritime show, this immersive, interactive tool enables visitors to view the company’s very latest products and systems, inside and out. Developed in conjunction with Austrian technology company Imagination Computer Serv. GesmbH, using their AR software ‘MagicLens’, visitors will download a reader app to their phones and scan a printed image to unlock the AR system.

Shell to Continue Philippine Mariner Training

Shell Marine has renewed its technical partnership for a further four years with the University of Cebu - Maritime Education and Training Center (UC METC). At the signing of the new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) were Shell Marine Executive Director Jan Toschka, University of Cebu President Atty. Augusto W. Go. Shell Marine will provide expertise in lubrication technology to the students and lecturers of the UC METC. A technical team from Shell Marine will provide training and knowledge modules through workshops and seminars at the UC METC.

At its November 15, 2016 meeting in Cincinnati, the National Waterways Foundation (NWF) elected the following Trustees and Officers. Dan Mecklenborg, Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Secretary, Ingram Barge Company, was elected Chairman. He succeeds Mark Knoy, President and Chief Executive Officer, American Commercial Barge Line, who remains on the Foundation as Immediate Past-Chairman.
